The US said on Sept 26, 2018 it had found evidence of systematic violence by Myanmar's military against the Rohingya minority, including widespread killings and rape. War of words must stop between New Delhi & Islamabad: Dr. Fai
It is time for the war of words between New Delhi and Islamabad to stop. The reckless statement of Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, “We need to take stern action to avenge the barbarism that terrorists and the Pakistan Army have been carrying out. Yes, it is time to give it back to them in the same coin…But I think the other side must also feel the same pain”  was immature and will not pave the way for a better understanding between these two neighboring countries. Such rhetoric needs to stop from all sides, Fai said.

My Road Trips in Bangladesh
By Dr. Habib Siddiqui: As I have already noted in an earlier article, roads and highways in Bangladesh remain some of the most dangerous in the world. The Government of Bangladesh needs to make its communication system safer for its commuters and every citizen failing which more people will die from traffic accidents. It can start that process with the much-needed fitness tests on trucks and buses and road repair/maintenance jobs.

Hindutva’s Poisoned Fruit and the World Hindu Congress
by Pieter Friedrich: The World Hindu Congress (WHC) was organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and featured as its keynote the Supreme Leader of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The RSS is “the neck that turns the head” of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).  The WHC was not a benign religious event. To quote Representative Tulsi Gabbard — the first Hindu elected to U.S. Congress — it was a “partisan Indian political event.” Neither was the WHC merely a benign political event. It was, rather, a platform for modern India’s most extreme sociopolitical figures and organizations to propagate their supremacist ideology, Hindutva, which is a form of religious nationalism. The World Hindu Congress was not a gathering to promote Hinduism but rather a conclave of the Sangh Parivar. It served as an attempt to internationalize Hindutva. The RSS is India’s version of the KKK — except instead of hoods they wear khakis (now brown pants), and instead of operating in secret they openly parade through villages, towns, and cities in columns. The agenda of Hindu supremacy is practically indistinguishable from white nationalism. Unfortunately, the RSS has gained far more ground in India than the KKK has in the United States. The KKK is a fringe, generally despised organization while the RSS is the neck that turns the head of India’s BJP regime. Read More

American Muslims 17 years after 9/11
By Abdus Sattar Ghazali
:   17 years after 9/11
terrorist attacks, American Muslims remain on the receiving end since 9/11/2001 but their plight has taken a new twist under President Donald Trump whose anti-Muslim policies alarmingly fomented hate crimes against them. According to a report released in July by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, anti-Muslim bias incidents and hate crimes are up 83 and 21 percent respectively, as compared to the first quarter of 2018.
